TRACK FRAGMENTS:
1.) “Keep On Going” - This track opens with a heavily influenced early eighties Journey musical intro.  The keyboard arrangement that Chris wrote along with the drum line Simon plays of the intro matched perfectly.  This gives the intro a very nice hook.  The band used the same musical arrangement for the musical verse as the one for the intro.  I thought Steve Augeri (formerly of Tall Stories and Journey) sounded a lot like Steve Perry however; Keith sounds more like Steve Perry than Steve Perry does.  Keith carries out the last note of every lyric line of the musical verse.  There is a short tom-tom fill connecting the musical verse with the musical chorus.  As a drummer, I love the stick control Simon used on the ride rhythm.  For me this ride rhythm made the chorus arrangement.  There is a very melodic lead guitar solo connecting the second chorus with the third.
2.) “Two Of A Kind” - Outside of the minor & major lead guitar solos this song is fairly straightforward.
3.) “When Baby” - This intro opens with one rhythm guitar arrangement.  Two measures into the intro and Laurie kicks in a second rhythm guitar.  Because both Dean and Laurie are playing the same guitar arrangement the intro has a heavy sound to it.  There was a rhythm guitar change for the musical verse.  The second and forth lyric lines of the verse were done as backing harmonies.  The chorus had a huge hook attached to it.  There is a minor lead guitar solo connecting the first chorus with the second verse.  The major lead guitar solo is after the second chorus.
4.) “Call Me Anytime” - There was a minor lead guitar solo over the top of this intro section.  There was a rhythm change for the musical verse.  At the end of the verse, there is a small rhythm build-up to lead into the musical chorus.  The chorus had a late seventies early eighties feel to it.  There was a very laid back melodic lead guitar solo connecting the second and third choruses together.  There was a minor lead guitar solo underneath the chorus of the coda.  Do not let the fact that the main highlights of this track are the lead guitar solos.  The song had a huge melodic sound with a very sweet hook.
5.) “So Long” - This intro opens with Chris playing a keyboard arrangement with his clef hand (left), along with Jim playing a very simple quarter-note bass line. Simon who is playing a snare drum rhythm bands the two together. The bass drum kick is the same rhythm as the bass line.  About four measures into the intro Chris kicks-in and begins playing a rhythm using the treble side of the piano (right hand).  It is at this time Dean begins playing a very simple rhythm guitar arrangement that leads to the musical verse.  Both Dean and Laurie are playing the same rhythm underneath Keith’s vocals.  There is a rhythm arrangement change for the musical chorus.  There is a minor lead guitar solo connecting the first chorus with the second verse.  The major solo is after the second chorus.
6.) “Back To The Start” - A very simple straightforward song.
7.) “Just One Kiss” - Keith sings a vocal accent over the top of this much-laid back and simple musical intro.  There is a hi-hat pattern connecting the intro with the musical verse.  This hi-hat pattern completely blew me away.  There also is a couple lead guitar licks to signify the break between the musical intro and verse.  For the musical verse the hi-hat along with the rhythm guitar play the same pattern.  The minor lead guitar licks of the verse where strategically placed to give to get the most out of Keith’s vocals.  There was a small rhythm change for the musical chorus.  The opening lead guitar solo blew me away.  The way the guys wrote the lead guitar solo made it sound as if there was two different guitarist playing on the solo.
8.) “Wrong Way Out” - Led Zeppelin heavily influenced this track.  Everyone needs a little lead for the head!!
9.) “One Step Ahead” - The rhythm guitar arrangement for this intro was very reminiscent of the stuff Sammy Hagar was writing when he recorded ‘Standing Hampton’.  Which was released on October 23, 1981.  There was a musical rest connecting the intro with the musical verse.  Keith’s vocals on the verse are very reminiscent to Head East and their song "Never Been Any Reason".  There is a small rhythm change for the musical chorus.  After the second chorus there is a very cool breakdown section this leads to the lead guitar solo.  The coda consisted of this very strange yet cool piano interlude.
10.) “Enough of Your Loving” - This song has a groove that is just nasty!  I immediately feel in love with this song.
11.) “Better Believe It” - Another great track that I completely feel in love with!
12.) “What More Do You Want From Me” - Keith’s vocals make this track amazing sounding!!!!!

Mostly known in the Hard Rock circles for being the band that saw the musical debut from John Bonham’s son Jason on the band’s debut album for Atco ‘Shaft of Light’, AIRRACEwas instead brainchild of former More guitarist Laurie Mansworth.
Although the band has to play support slots with Queen, AC/DC and Meat Loaf, Airrace crash-landed in the summer of 1985.
In 2009 after 25 years the original members along with The Outfield drummer Simon Dawson re-united for the 25th anniversary re-issue of ‘Shaft Of Light’. ‘Back To The Start’ is as great of a comeback release as one could hope for. If your a fan of AOR or late 80’s early 90’s style melodic metal than this release if for you and much like their first album will be an essential classic album.
