TRACK FRAGMENTS
:
.) “Beauty Of Dreams” –This track opens with a heavily influenced early eighties Journey intro arrangement.  There is a small guitar riff connecting the intro with the musical verse.  There was a musical arrangement change for the musical verse.  The way the band arranged the musical verse consisted of the rhythm guitar riffs layered in between the lead vocal lines.  The lead vocals of this track are amazing!!!  There is a one line pre-chorus.  This one line consisted of a backing harmony.  The chorus does not compare to the verse.  There was a different musical arrangement for the second verse.  After the second chorus there is a small breakdown section that connects to the lead guitar solo.  The lead guitar solo starts with an intense feel then slows down.  The lead guitar solo runs underneath the third chorus.
.) “Forgive and Forget” – This track opens with the full band.  There is a rhythm arrangement change for the musical verse.  There is a small backing harmony connecting the third and forth lyric line of the verse.  There is an arrangement change for the musical chorus.  After the first chorus there is a small breakdown section.  This breakdown section consisted of a very cool little keyboard arrangement.  After the second chorus there is a twin lead guitar solo.
.) “Never Give Up” – This intro consisted of two different rhythm guitar arrangements over the top of a keyboard arrangement.  The verse starts off with a tom-tom pattern before going into a standard drum rhythm.  There was a small hook attached to the musical pre-chorus.  The chorus had a early eighties Journey feel to it.  There are a couple lead guitar licks underneath the lead vocal lines of the second verse.  The lead guitar solo is after the second chorus.  After the lead guitar solo there is a small almost progressive sounding breakdown section.
.) “In My Arms” – This intro consisted of a piano arrangement over the top of an orchestrated arrangement.  The musical pre-verse consisted of electric guitar licks over the top of an acoustic guitar arrangement.  There was a drum fill to not only connect the musical pre-verse with the verse but also kick-in the drum line.  The lead guitar solo is after the second chorus and heavily influenced by Neal Schon.
.) “Reach Out “- This track opens with a strange effect before going into the main intro.  The main intro had a very basic sound to it.  The musical verse was very laid back sounding.  After the fourth lyric line there is a small one measure musical change.  The pre-chorus of this track was huge sounding.  The lead guitar solo had a stocked tape feel to it.
.) “New Generation” - This track opens with a keyboard effect over the top of a percussion drum pattern.  The main intro consisted of both a piano and synthesizer arrangement.  The synthesizer’s sound sounded like the same effect Head East used on – “There’s Never Been Any Reason” released on the album 1975 album ‘Flat As A Pancake’.  There was a small arrangement tweak for the musical verse.  The first noticeable musical change is for the musical chorus.  There is several backing harmonies scattered throughout the second verse.   There was a drastic musical change for the breakdown section.  There is a minor lead guitar solo underneath the lyric lines of the third chorus.  The outro consisted of the same effect that opened the track.
.) “Forever In Your Eyes” – There is a minor lead guitar solo over the top of this intro section.  The musical verse not only consisted of an electric guitar rhythm but also an acoustic rhythm.  There is a rhythm arrangement change for the musical chorus.  At times the musical verse had a progressive feel to it.  There was a breakdown section after the second chorus that led to the lead guitar solo.
.) “Hungry Hearts” – The musical intro to this track was very reminiscent to the stuff Aldo Nova use to write.  There was a small rhythm riff that connected the intro with the musical verse.  The rhythm guitar of the musical verse is one that you would hear as an underling arrangement.  However Auras used it as the main riff.  There is a small musical change for the musical chorus.  The chorus had a huge eighties hook attached to it.  There is a single guitar riff over the top of a percussion drum section connecting the first chorus with the second verse. Though the piano was suppose to be very subtle it is really what sets the song off on its own.  The lead guitar had a couple intense notes however was very laid back.  After the solo there is a small breakdown section.  I think every instrument outside of the drums & bass had an effect attached to it.
.) “That's the Way Love Goes” – This intro opens with a huge drum fill.  I’m listening to the CD through headphones on my PC instead of normally listening to it through my stereo, so I’m not sure however it sounds like there is a cowbell over the top of the drum line.  The musical intro consisted of two different rhythm guitar arrangements one was an acoustic while the other was a very cool laid back electric riff.  For the musical verse the main guitar arrangement is the acoustic, where the electric arrangement plays more of a fill-in roll.  It sounded like several of the lyric lines were double-tracked.  There is a small arrangement change for the musical pre-chorus.  The chorus had a very simple hook to it.  Underneath Gui’s vocal lines of the second verse there is this strange rhythm riff that had an almost Jimmy Buffett sound???  I was not expecting this at all!!!!  There is a lead guitar solo after the second chorus.  The breakdown section consisted of vocals, acoustic guitar and a bongo percussion pattern.  There is a minor solo over the top of the outro section.  Some of the arrangements and instruments on this track gives the song a very island sound.  I was kind of taken a back with this track.  It is one of those songs like the Jim Brim cover of “Ice Cream Man” Van Halen recorded on their self-titled release.
.) “Keep On Loving You” – This intro was a keyboard riff that was very reminiscent to some of the keyboard intro Edward Van Halen was writing when Sammy Hagar was with the band.  The musical verse consisted of two different rhythm guitar arrangements.  The main rhythm guitar was done with a talkbox effect while the second rhythm guitar was playing fill-in chords.  The lyric line of this section had a echo attached to it.  The band completely changes the rhythm arrangement and the dynamics of the song by slowing the musical down for the pre-chorus.  The musical change along with the chorus itself had a huge hook attached to it.  Sound wise this was by far the best produced track on the release.  Though there are more radio friendly songs on this CD this is the one should be a single due solely on the production value.
.) “Out of Love” – This track opens with a top 40’s keyboard and percussion effect.  Too me it was very reminiscent of early eighties Cher.  The way Gui sang the lead vocals reminded me a lot of the stuff Ann Wilson was doing on ‘Bad Animals’.  The song really does not kick-in until the musical chorus.  There are several different keyboard & synthesizer arrangements on this song.  Because of this the music arrangement has a layered effect.  The lead guitar solo was very laid back.  Who ever came up with the idea of double tracking the vocals in the way they did for the last chorus knocked the ball miles out of the ball park!!!
.) “Love To Survive” – This is a very simple song with huge hooks that shows the band’s musical talent.

When I was first told that Gui’s vocals had a Steve Perry feel to them.  I have to be honest, I cringed just a little.  Mainly because I’ve often felt Rollie was a better vocalist and after he left the band went downhill.  However, Gui sounded more like and better than Perry did in the early eighties.  Mostly the music is very reminiscent of Journey however I also heard ruminants of Heart and even Jimmy Buffett believe it or not.  I was really amazed by the band’s sound as well as I feel you will be. This release is for essential fans of Journey.
