TRACK FRAGMENTS:
Instrumental
1.) “Half A Time’s Measure” – This track opens with a very basic intro arrangement. There is an arrangement change connecting the musical intro with the musical verse. I will get into this more in the closing however the opening backing vocals that open the verse are very heavy and don’t fit the music. I am going to try and make this the last time I make this statement until the end however, I’m afraid It’s not going to be. The vocal lines open with a backing harmony. There is a small snare fill and rhythm arrangement change for the musical chorus. There is a tiny lead lick connecting the verse with the chorus. After the third chorus there was a small breakdown section.
2.) “Terror In The Sky” – This intro opens with a very cool bass line. Underneath the bass line there is a studio effect. The main intro kicks-in with two simple rhythm guitar chords. The main musical intro had a garage band sound to it. The highlight for me was the china-boy cymbal crashes. The musical verse however, does have a solid groove to it. The lead vocals of the pre-verse had a very garage band feel. There was a small arrangement change for the musical verse. The lead vocals of the song had a early Rob Halford feel to them. The lead guitar solo connects the first chorus with the second. The solo runs underneath the second chorus. There is a second lead guitar solo over top of the outro section.
3.) “Everlasting God” – This intro opens with a small tom-tom pattern. The main intro consisted of a huge progressive sounding lead guitar rhythm. There are several backing vocals over the top of the intro section. There is a rhythm arrangement change for the musical verse. The band drops the orchestration of the verse for the chorus. This change is the only real noticeable change between the verse & chorus. There are a couple lead guitar licks underneath the lyrics of the second verse. The lead guitar solo connects the second chorus with the third chorus. For me the lead guitar solo was the highlight of the song. There is a minor lead guitar solo over the top of the outro section. Some of the notes of this section were double tracked to give a twin lead guitar sound.
4.) “Crime Scene Earth” – This track opens with a fairly simple heavy metal intro arrangement. The drum line of the musical verse was done using just the snare and bass drum. There is a music arrangement change for the musical chorus. There was a lead guitar solo connecting the first chorus with the second verse. There is a second more major lead guitar solo after the second chorus. There was a second minor lead guitar solo underneath the chorus of the outro.
5.) “The Judas In Me” – This track opens with a drum rhythm before going into the main musical intro section. There is a minor lead guitar solo over the top of the main musical intro. There is a small arrangement change for the musical verse. The guitar tracks of the musical chorus were arranged as a minor solo. The lead guitar solo connected the second and third chorus.
6.) “Too Many” – There are three musical rests before the main musical intro kicks-in. After about two measures there is a arrangement change. There is an arrangement change for the musical verse. The drum line of the musical verse was done using a tom-tom rhythm. I understand way the deep vocal sound of the chorus is there however I did not think they fit. After the second chorus there was a small arrangement change connecting it with the third chorus. The lead guitar solo was the main highlight.
7.) “Invader” - This track opens with the special effects of an alien space ship. The main musical intro had a huge intense sound to it. The band used the same rhythm arrangement of the verse as the one for the intro. The choruses of this track were kept very simple. In between the lyric lines and music arrangement of the second verse there was a minor lead guitar solo. The lead guitar solo was not nearly as intense as it should have been! There was an intense arrangement change for the outro.
8.) “Bend Knee” – This track opens with a very simple yet cool intro arrangement. There is a very short minor lead guitar solo connecting the musical intro with the musical verse. There is no arrangement change for the musical verse. The chorus just kind of fizzled-out! There is a huge arrangement change and musical speed up for the lead guitar solo. I loved the way the lead the solo back into the main musical arrangement.
9.) “Lost” –This is a very simple straight forward metal song!
‘Crime Scene Earth 2.0’ is a re-release of a CD that was released in 2008. Outside of the record label the only difference between the two releases is the cover and the addition of 2.0 in the title. Unless there was a contractual reason I can’t think of one reason why they added the 2.0. Every track had huge potential. However, something went wrong. Too me, it sounded like the music is from one genre of metal and the vocals are from another. This made for a very odd sound that personally I didn’t care for. Because there are so many great Christian metal releases out there my suggestion is to pass on this one.
