Saint – ‘Hell Blade’ |
Released through Retroactive Records in 2009 |
THE BAND:
Josh Kramer – vocals
Jerry Johnson – guitars
Richard Lynch – bass & backing vocals
Bill Brost – drums & backing vocals
TRACK FRAGMENTS:
1.) “The Ascent” - Instrumental
2.) “The Blade” – There is a very intense minor lead guitar solo over the top of this intro section. Though there is an arrangement change the band keeps the intense sound of the musical verse. The musical chorus was taken right out of European metal. Though the lead guitar solo was huge, it has to be the drum work that makes the highlight!!!!
3.) “To The Cross” –Outside of the drum work everything was fairly basic on this track!
4.) “Crying In The Night” – By far the best I’ve heard the band perform!!!!
5.) “Hell Train” – All in all this track was very simple and straight forward. The only real highlight was the arrangement change for the lead guitar solo.
6.) “Endless Night” – There was a minor lead guitar solo over the top of this intro. The music arrangement along with the way the lyric lines were arranged was very reminiscent to very early Judas Priest. There was a small progressive arrangement change for the musical chorus. What stood out the most for me on this track was the bass drum work.
7.) “You & Me” – From beginning to end this was just a straight forward eighties hard rock song.
8.) “New World Order” –There should have been more songs like this on the release!!!!
9.) “Sinner Peace” - The musical intro consisted of a sixteenth-note rhythm arrangement. The band keeps the same sixteenth-note rhythm arrangement for the musical verse. They just change the rhythm guitar riff. The choruses of this track were very short! The lead guitar solo for this song was very simple and double-tracked.
10.) “Hell Blade” –There was a minor lead guitar solo over the top of this intro section. There was a arrangement change for the musical verse. The verse had a very intense feel to it. There was a minor lead guitar solo underneath the vocal lines of the chorus. There is a small breakdown section after the third chorus. This breakdown section consisted of a spoken vocal arrangement.
‘Hell Blade’ is the latest release from the Christian Metal band Saint. This CD is a lot better than ‘Crime Scene Earth 2.0’ was! If you’re a fan of Christian Metal this Saint release is the one you want to buy!!!
