Sebastian Bach is the ultimate front man. He has it all --- the look, the voice, and the attitude. The story of Sebastian Bach & friends started to take shape in 1996, when Bach was offered to record a track for the up and coming smash hit movie "Scream". When his old bandmates (Skid Row) chose not to cut the song, what was the great vocalist to do but find three friends and cut the song himself, solo. The track was a cover of Alice Cooper's "Schools Out" and was recorded under the name The Last Hard Men.
Bach along with Richie Scarlet, Mark 'bam bam' McConnell and a bassist only known as Larry hit the road and what spawned was two weeks of dates turned into over one-hundred gigs world wide. "Bring 'Em Bach Alive" is a 16 track CD with ten of the songs being your favorite Skid Row numbers performed live.
TRACK FRAGMENTS:
1.) "Rock 'n' Roll" -
Performing on this track is Sebastian Bach (vocals), Wolf Hoffman (guitars),
Larry (Bass), and Anton Fig (drums). This song makes for a great opening number
because of its in you face guitar pattern. With its words and melodies this
could be considered as the anthem for 80s metal bands in 2000.
2.) "Done Bleeding" - Performing on this track is Sebastian Bach
(vocals), Richie Scarlet (guitars), Larry (Bass), and Anton Fig (drums). This
song also has a very heavy guitar pattern with an acoustic guitar through the
pre-chorus. The vocal arrangement and sound remind me of Motley Crue's self
titled CD.
3.) "Superjerk, Superstar, Supertears" - Performing on this track is
Sebastian Bach (vocals), Jimmy Flemion and Richie Scarlet (guitars), Larry
(bass), and Anton Fig (drums). This semi ballad really shows Sebastian's singing
talents. The minor twin guitar solo added a nice effect to the song.
4.) " Blasphemer" - Performing on this track is Sebastian Bach (vocals),
Jimmy Flemion and Richie Scarlet (guitars), Larry (bass), and Anton Fig (drums).
This is a very modern alternative sounding track with its heavy guitars and
vocals.
5.) "Counterpunch" - Performing on this track is Sebastian Bach (vocals),
Richie Scarlet (guitars), Larry (bass), and Anton Fig (drums). This song
reminded me a lot of the stuff Skid Row was trying to capture on "Subhuman
Race".
*** All live tracks are performed by Sebastian Bach, JimmyFlemion, Richie
Scarlet, Larry, and Mark 'bam bam' McConnell.
The rest of the tracks on the CD are live. This
tracks consist of: "Slave To The Grind", "Frozen", "18 & Life", "Beat Yourself
Blind", "Riot Act", "Mudkicker", "In A Darkened Room", " Monkey
Business/Godzilla", " The Most Powerful Man In The World", " I Remember You" and
"Youth Gone Wild.
I was really surprised after listening to this CD. In
most cases, when a band member decides to go solo and performs the original
songs with another band the music seems to be cut short. But not in this case
the Skid Row songs that Bach & Friends perform live on this CD are more intense
and have more feeling than with Skid Row. Bach shows that his is in top form and
does not plan to go away anytime soon.
