TRACK FRAGMENTS:
1.) "The Party Starts Now" -This track opens with a backing
vocal. The opening backing vocal a long with the musical intro gives the
intro section a very early Black Flag feel. For the opening lead vocal
line Jesses's vocal accents reminds you a lot of the stuff Dee done with Twisted
Sister in the early eighties before 'Stay Hungry'. The rhythm guitar
tracks for the intro and pre-verse arrangement where very simple and laid back
sounding. As the arrangement progresses the rhythm guitar riffs build with
intensity. The pre-verses and verses of this track have a punkish feel too
them. Much like early Black Flag music the choruses where kept fairly
basic. After the second chorus there is a small heavy metal style guitar
solo. Jesse wrote and arranged a very sweet sounding melody for the verses
of this song.
2.) "Juggernaut" -This track opens with a heavy metal style intro
section. There are two different rhythm guitar riffs through the intro.
The way the band arranged the verses of this song has the music just in between
the vocal lines. Arranging the song in this fashion gives the listener a
chance to hear Jesse's great vocal work. The choruses of the song where
kept clean and simple. Don't let the simple chorus fool you it has a very
huge hook that smacks you in the face. Over the top of the breakdown
section there is a small Jesse vocal line. The vocal line sounds like it
was done with a studio effect. The band changes the rhythm structure of
the song for the outro section.
3.) "Rockstar" -This track has no intro section. From the
opening musical note the song goes right into a pre-verse style arrangement.
In the way the band arranged the guitar riffs along with the vocal lines of the
song gives the song a very intense feel. It sounded like the band added a
vocal effect to Jesse's vocals of the verse to give the vocal lines a little
different feel than the pre-chorus. The main bass line of the song follows
a long with the rhythm guitars giving the song a very heavy feel. There is
a small breakdown section that consisted of only a drum pattern. For the
main breakdown section there is a huge underlining bass line.
4.) "Bring It" -This track opens with a very heavy musical
arrangement. In the way the band arranged the pre-verse will give the
listener a chance to hear how great of a vocalist Jesse is. This is also
noticeable at the vocal accent at the tail end of the pre-verse. The
chorus much like most of the choruses on this release was structured in a very
simple way. There is a small lead guitar solo. This guitar solo runs
underneath the last pre-verse.
5.) "Punk You!" -This track opens with a vocal line. The verse
and chorus arrangements on this track have a very early punk feel. Much
like punk music this track is straight forward and smacks you in the face!!
6.) "Make It Hurt " -Over the top of this intro section there is a
very cool rhythm guitar riff. The music along with the lyrics arrangement
of this verse has a very intense feel. At times the way Jesse pronounces
the ending of some of the vocal accents will remind you a lot of some his
fathers early vocal accents. The guys arranged the backing harmonies of
the chorus liked seasoned professionals. There is a very cool bass line
underneath the musical section that connects the first chorus with the second
verse. The guitar solo was very laid back in comparison to the rest of the
musical arrangement.
7.) "Scream" -This track opens with a hi-hat count off before going
into the musical intro. Through the musical intro there are a couple of
lead guitar licks that fill in the gap left by the rhythm guitar. There is
a mean rhythm guitar arrangement that opens the verse. The band speeds the
song up for the pre-verse and then slow it back down for the chorus. There
is a small rhythm change for the breakdown section.
8.) "Now The Party Starts!" -This track is a small vocal and musical
piece that ends the CD.
For those out there who do not know Jesse is the son of
legendary vocalist Dee Snider (Twisted Sister). One of the things I
tried to do in writing this review way to try and stay away from this fact.
And I feel I done a pretty good job. The eight songs on this E.P are of a
punk/modern metal style and it doesn't take you very long to really get into the
band. In fact if you want to do a comparison Blazed are as good if not
better than most of the modern metal bands being played on the radio. If
you are into modern metal or older punks bands like Black Flack then Blazed is
really worth checking out.
