TRACK FRAGMENTS:
1.) "The Pain" - This track opens with a very simple keyboard pattern.
Bob kicks the song in with a very laid back melodic vocal line. Through out the
vocal arrangement the vocals are very relaxed and melodic. The song in whole
just oozes of hooks and is very catchy. After the guitar solo there is a
keyboard solo then a small break down.
2.)"Shelter From The Night"- This opens with a keyboard melody along with drums.
The lyric arrangement follows along with the keyboard arrangement. During the
chorus Vinny plays a huge lead scale. The guitar scales used are very eighties
metal sounding.
3.)"Carpe Diem" - This ballad also kicks off with a keyboard melody and drums.
The vocal arrangement is a lot like some of Neil Diamond's seventy's material.
During the chorus there is a small harmony section of echoes of the lyrics.
4.)"Tender Is The Night"- This track opens with a keyboard sounding pedal
effect. The vocal lines are very melodic and laid back with really suites the
song well. Mainly because the song is suppose to be laid back.
5.)"Medusa"-This track opens with a huge rhythm scale consisting of all band
members. When the vocals kick in the song takes an opera sound to it. Musically
the song is very catchy.
6.)"Hydra"- This track opens with a real cool piano piece along with Bob's
vocals. Up through the chorus it almost sounds like a ballad but the group
really kicks the song in through the chorus. They turned the guitar leads down
so the music really over shadows it.
7.)"A Beautiful Night For Love" - This ballad starts of with a very classic rock
sounding piano piece. They use a pretty simple piano piece, as the main
instrument for the song, which just adds to Bob's lain back sound.
8.)"Too Late"-This track opens with a drum pattern intro. Once again the vocal
arrangement has a Neil Diamond sound to them. The backing vocals through the
chorus are very powerful and mesmerizing.
9.)"The Light" - This track kick off with a keyboard/guitar lead scale. Vinny
really keeps the rhythm simple here and let the keyboard do all the work.
10.)"Where The Heart Is" -This being the closing song has an Old Irish hymn
sound to it.
The mixture of music styles on this CD makes it definitely makes this CD worth having.
