Released on Perris Records in 2001
THE BAND:
Wes Kimball -vocals
Tom Mathers - guitar
Taz - guitar
Jamie Scott - bass
Kelly Thomas - drums
TRACK BY TRACK:
1.) "Good in a Bad Way" - This first song opens with a classic 80's metal
guitar intro. The vocal arrangement is a lot like Buckcherry. The guitar pattern
is pretty much of an AC/DC style, just keep it simple. The song was fairly short
and there was no solo.
2.) "Luv Junkie" - The intro here also kicks off with a very classic
guitar pattern. The drummer throws in a few odd snare notes that really sets the
song off. The vocals are very over shadowed by the music. It sounds like they
where turned down. This track does have a small solo.
3.) "Cloud 9" - This track kicks off with a small snare pattern. There
are a couple rests within the guitar arrangement that really let the drums and
bass shine through. The beginning of the solo goes from one speaker to the next
giving off a small siren effect.
4.) "Roll the Bones" - This track opens, with a real cool Eighties
sounding pattern. I really liked the guitar arrangement on this track. There is
a real small laid-back blues/metal type solo.
5.) "Red Devil" - Another track off this CD with a very standard AC/DC
type pattern. Wes not only changes vocal style on this track but also his sound,
it really doesn't sound like the rest of the tracks. There is a small effects
pedal solo and a couple lead scales during the chorus after the solo.
6.) "You've got the Bomb" - This intro as a guitar lead scale. The main
guitar pattern has a little slide section within it. The solo on this one was
small and very over shadowed by the background music.
7.) "King of the Mountain" - This track has a very late seventies early
eighties type music arrangement, just very simple and rocking. There is a real
cool bass line within the arrangement. The solo in a lot of ways is a lot like
older Kiss stuff.
8.) "2 Times You" - This track also has a real cool bass line. There are
a couple real small lead scales that are almost inaudible. Musically the song is
well structured and arranged.
9.) "Whiskey" - This track was tacked right from the AC/DC fake book. The
guitar pattern sounds like Angus wrote it. And the vocal arrangement does Bon
proud.
There is so many influences on this record it is unreal. The production
as far as vocals and music could have been a little better. At times it is a
real strain to here the vocalist. The songs are short and to the point, with
great guitar patterns and musical arrangements. And sometimes that is all it
takes. I really enjoyed listening to this CD and I feel most older hard rock
fans will to.
